Man charged after allegedly assaulting woman on city bus in Saskatoon
A 32-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a 50-year-old woman on a Saskatoon Transit bus.
According to police, officers were called to the 200 block of Third Avenue North in the city’s downtown core at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday for a reported assault.
“A 50 year old female victim reported that the suspect attempted to board a locked bus by attempting to force the door open,” the Saskatoon Police Service explained in a statement.
“When the woman attempted to intervene, she was pushed to the ground in a physical altercation. The altercation continued on board the bus when the male began being verbally aggressive with patrons. He then fled the scene as police were arriving.”
The woman suffered minor injuries, the police service noted.
Police said the 32-year-old man was arrested after a short foot chase. He’s now facing charges of assault, obstructing a police officer, and causing a disturbance.
“He was released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled for April 30, 2025,” the police service noted.
