Man hit on the head with a hammer on a Saskatoon transit bus

Another violent incident on a Saskatoon city transit bus, this one occurred on Monday afternoon around 5:10 p.m.  Officers were called to the 200 block of 23rd Street East for a weapons call and that a man had been assaulted on a transit bus.

The victim explained to officers he was hit on the head with a hammer by another man. Shortly after, a man matching the description of the suspect was located and arrested in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. A hammer was located when the suspect was searched.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene, then transported to hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. It is believed the victim knew the person who attacked them.

A Saskatoon Police Service news release says a 23-year-old man faces charges relating to aggravated assault and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions.
