Teen girl arrested after stabbing on Saskatoon Transit bus: Police
A 15-year-old girl is facing charges after a stabbing on a Saskatoon Transit bus on Wednesday night.
According to police, officers were called to the bus in the area of Wardlow Road and Appleby Drive in the city’s Meadowgreen neighbourhood at around 10 p.m. for a reported assault.
“Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old female suffering from what were believed to be non-life-threatening stab wounds and cuts; she was transported to hospital by paramedics for treatment of her injuries,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“Further investigation found that an altercation between two groups of youth females had occurred prior to the stabbing. The suspects then fled from the bus.”
As officers were clearing the scene, they spotted a girl matching the description of one of the suspects.
“She was arrested without incident and found to be in possession of a knife and cannabis,” police said.
The girl is now facing two charges of aggravated assault, along with additional charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
The attack remains under investigation, the police force noted.
Crime on Saskatoon buses has been a persistent issue in the Bridge City, even after the city unveiled a safety plan in 2024 aimed to protect both drivers and passengers.
